Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Why are they asking for everyone’s ID in the lobby at 240G today?

So that disgruntled laid-off employees can’t get back in the building? As if they would want to. Anyway, don’t they take away your ID card?

They have three rings of security at 240. How did the person even make it past the guard at the door, second guard as you walk in, all well before the turnstiles, which either are by card or guard to open. So this is either a BS story of a massive safety issue that all.employees should complain about and loudly.

It was a former employee that is now homeless as a result of BNYM laying him off. He wanted to update his former manager on his homeless status.

Escorted like when they lay people off? Lol. No one can get in unless security activated the turnstile for them.. They checked ID last year too when they let people go at this time. #fakenews

The homeless thing isn’t fake news. I was there as someone was escorted from an elevator and out of the building.

I know we don't get decent raises but seriously none of us look homeless! How didn't anyone not notice a homeless person walking past the security not once but several times??! Smh!

There was an incident around two weeks ago where a homeless person managed to make it past the guards and the turnstiles and onto an elevator. Since then they’ve been checking IDs.

They did that for a couple weeks after the last layoff... And yes, to keep disgruntled employees out... However, no one ever collected my ID when I left for a much better position elsewhere
