Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

Emerson - Flow Groups: Global Layoffs Jan 7, 2020

Global layoffs happened at multiple locations, including Boulder, Houston, Eden Prairie, Europe, and more this past Tuesday. They cut deep; it was brutal. Many departments lost three people. They cut people with many years of service, and a fair amount of people were over the age of 40 - I am sure a coincidence. Meanwhile, there are corporate jets, a helicopter, a retreat, and the list does not stop there. They cut costs by cutting people instead of cutting the people at the top who have mismanaged the business.

Yep, can certainly vouch for that! It was definitely brutal. They gave us an hour to get out.

  1. E. Shaw won’t be appeased so easily. This is nowhere near over.

Layoffs should cease by the end of Feb 2020 but will continue strategically (a few here, a few there) until that time. Management needs to prove to D.E. Shaw that they are serious but will focus on layoffs and facility consolidations first before parting with their precious Gulfstream jets.

Don't be surprised to see Plants shut such as Appleton Houston, Oklahoma City, etc. Even beloved MicroMotion and PSS are not immune. Layoffs are targeting high salaried individuals with enough young professionals mixed in to avoid potential lawsuits.

Top leaders are flying around in private jets. They haven’t left.

Top leaders are leaving. Why is no one questioning this?

Cuts also in Europe - with no strategic vision. No lazy people laid off, just the best ones, so far. Going to be out of business soon.

It is anonymous, unless you somehow reveille your identity yourself (in other words, don’t post from a company network or device).
They (web moderators) have few rules, though. This is a copy-paste from another forum board here, hope it helps:

I've been on the site for a while now and here is my observation on what kind of posts mods/admins delete:

  • Foul language (a big no-no)
  • Defamation
  • Racism
  • Anything that has personal info
  • Using names excluding public figures like PR, Comms, Board and C-Level)
  • Unsupported negative posts (e.g., you will all be laid off, ford engineers are not competent, etc)
  • Trolling (they axe this sometimes, I've seen some troll posts survive but they typically nix it)
  • References to violence and sgurd (read this in reverse, I don't -want to be tagged as pitching it here, merely trying to avoid being blocked)

In reply to last.. I think they should do with the CEO what Emerson does to the rank and file in the engineering offices: freeze his pay, freeze hiring, cut all his non-essential spending and office activities, not approve him for any training, have his travel routed through the employee system so he can fly Southwest and not get reimbursed for his drinks, put single-ply tp in his office sh–ter, and have an L1 visa from Pune replace him under the guise that he can't show he's qualified for the job he already has.

Seems kinda quiet on the DE Shaw complaints now that they have Blinn on the Board. Let me assure the true investors in Emerson, the employees, that things will change the minute he gets off which ever of the seven jets that Corporate sends to pick him up and whisk him away in a Limo to the Retreat center. Just knowing he's there should suffice for the removal of actual income producers within the corporate umbrella. Ah well, maybe that highly paid analysis team will come up with numbers for removing the worthless Corporates who contribute little if not actually reduce productivity. Frankly, the board should treat our jet setting CEO like he treats Emerson divisions that don't live up to the corporate analyst's projections. Don't worry about assisting divisions that fall short of revenue projections, strike fear, tell they will be sold and then get rid of them. Can we tell him we will fire him errrr.. sell him and his management team? Would anyone buy? I'd bet we could find someone that can run Emerson just as good for 1/10 his total benefit package.
