Well, things just went from bad to worse.
Wichita’s largest employer, Spirit AeroSystems, announced Friday that it will lay off 2,800 workers due to uncertainty about production of the Boeing 737 Max.
All 2,800 employees work in Wichita. The layoffs will be followed by further cuts later this month at the company’s Tulsa and McAlestar, Oklahoma, locations, according to a news release sent out by the company.

Heads up. Boeing employee here from the seattle area. You are correct about the rate reduction after certification. We are being told the rate will start at 21 per month and that itll take 2 years (24 months) to get back to the 52 per month we were at before this whole thing unfolded.
If you we are hired after april 2018 you are being cut news today from 1st union rep.
If you are part of that 2800 dont expect to be called back any time soon . Read your email and the press release they are laying off reduce cost and expecting a lower production rate when max is recertified. The company is working with other companies and gonna have a job fair for all employees affected. Why would they help you find a job ?! The spirit goes on to say if their are further delays for the max may have to layoff more . THEY ARE SLOWING PRODUCTION WHEN MAX RETURNS !!!@ AND TRIMMING THE EXTRA PEOPLE NOW!!!
