Juniata Paint Shop

Just curious as to if the Juniata paint shop is still open or did they close it like they did the Chattanooga paint shop?

Heard Curry Rail in Hollidaysburg is taking on the paint jobs. All Carmen employed there are being furloughed and will be offered jobs elsewhere on the system where openings are (which isn't many)

I saw first hand the great quality of craftsmanship that JBS painters did on the heritage locomotives. Unfortunately that was done when people who took pride in the railroad ran the railroad. Good luck, band together instead of fighting with other crafts and other shops and grieve everything you can by the contract!

Its sad to see good hardworking folks from any shop be laid off because this much corporate greed. Making a profit I can understand but ruining so many lives in the process is a shame. The paint shop a Juniata is down to first shift and was threatened that if they don't meet crazy deadlines that the work will go to Curry Supply.

more like as long as we have system shops thinking they know how to work on engines we all will have plenty to do. more like chop shops.

As long as JLS keeps “rebuilding” engines, we’ll all have a job!

Who will fix the junk JLS puts out? They will have keep all the system shops open just to repair JLS locomotives. You know it’s true. Keep up the quality work for all the other shops. Thanks

not to worry JBS is diverse enough to do without a paint booth. we will have plenty to do when some of the system shops are cut back or idled. we have the people and space to absorb 4 systems shops production and to think of the savings by not shipping parts to keep systems shops running.

As bright as these corporate folks are, they’ll probably close it eventually and just have eye sores rolling around on the tracks
