I found that there's a big and beautiful world out there with real benefits, cheap healthcare, and knowledgeable, amicable managers who put employees first.
I can't believe I stayed with Macy's Technology for more than a year. Just lazy, I guess. I do thank Macy's for the kick in the pants to point me in the right direction. Keep this in mind when the layoffs come for you.
Macy's is toxic. The engineering managers are bitter and vindictive. Human resources is a joke (Except no one's laughing at their incompetence). Scrum masters would be horrified to see how Macy's interprets Agile. Macy's has none of the perks of a software company because it's not one. It's retail pretending it knows what to do with a web site.
I encourage all of you software developers and QA to dust off your resumes too. I'm telling you what you already know. You can do so much better elsewhere.
