Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

They just launched IPTV and now they're leaving the TV business?

I heard that rumor, too. That's really some strange timing. Almost like they had planned it that way.

I wonder if they are somehow selling their customer base to another company and letting them lease their network for transport. Any ideas?

I think they did something similar with Verizon on their headend during the CTF purchase.

IP TV is the worst!!! An untested technology that was not ready when it was forced into the field and its still not ready!! Field techs, like myself, were not trained or equipped for this POS system!! ALL IPTV installs I have done cancelled service within 30 days. As for leaving the TV business I am surprised when I actually have TV service to put in. Its all about the internet. It is what it is; drilling holes, throwing boxes and slinging wires.

Frontier recently renewed the FiOS licensing deal with Verizon for several more years (FiOS brand plus supporting technology). This was announced internally several weeks ago. And Frontier has been renewing content deals with major providers over the holiday season. So the evidence would suggest that although the traditional video business is declining, Frontier plans to continue to service video customers.

MoCa is a cable tv standard. Comcast and every other cable company uses it. It’s just Ethernet over coax.
The FiOS boxes are standard cable technology.

What happened to post about Bernie coming to Tampa for town hall meeting. Anything negative about Juan gets removed. He’ll send in all his little lead minions to represent because he doesn’t have the guts to send reps. Back away from the lunch table Juan and show some leadership

Did the contract between Frontier and Verizon also include the FIOS technology like MoCa? It would be way too much money for rebranding of all current FIOS equipment. I could see a partnering with DISH for TV.

Nobody in their right mind wants to be associated with Frontier. The name is toxic.

Frontier should drop the FiOS name and replace it with Frontier Fiber. Dropping TV might be smart too, maybe they could partner with Google and give their customers a small discount on YouTube TV.

from day one of CTF, it has seem as if they want to run the company into the ground. They say the right things, they put road blocks so it is very hard for employees to give good customer service.

They have to rebrand everywhere very soon as Vantage because the FIOS licensing deal from Verizon is up and Frontier can not afford to renew it.

Think that's why their stock went up 30% today? Or did someone dump more money in an attempt to stop it from being delisted?
