In Oklahoma you just apply for unemployment and click you received severance on the weekly questionaire. After the severance is over the unemployment payout starts paying.

Severance package is no true benefit unless you find another job ASAP. Every week of severance pay delays starting and getting paid unemployment in TX by equal amount of weeks.

It is designed to entice ex-employees who are laid off to use lump sum as bonus and find another job immediately or Halliburton foots bill for up to 6 months of unemployment.

The only way you are not eligible for unemployment is if you are terminated with cause. So if you get fired no, laid off yes.

Depends on wording of package. Doesn’t hurt to ask for it though. I did and ended up having to pay it back due to severance package being in effect
