Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

What’s the fate of the pse program?

I have heard many rumors that pse is going away. Makes sense, since hvac is type 2 and generators will be soon as well. I’m a sales coordinator for pse, and I know that some stores have eliminated the position. I want to know when the program will go away. Psi went away end of January. Can pse expect the same? Does anyone have the inside scoop?

Can confirm last post. Wow Lowe’s- Corporate has ZERO respect or concern for their employees- many of which who SELL and put up huge numbers adding the bottom line. Mass exodus of PSE’s in 3, 2, 1.............
Many of these PSE’s will find jobs selling against Lowe’s and in 10 months the ‘smart folks’ at Corporate will be crowing about ‘why are numbers in the tank’.
Corporate- K–ling your Indians and keeping all the Chiefs renders you useless as there will be no one left to do your work. Plus as a Wise Market Director once said - “Just remember; there ain’t any cash registers at Corporate”. Think about that one!
Fellow PSE’s- Get out Now and don’t wait it out.

I am currently attending a meeting in Charlotte with other DMIS. We have been told to expect a turnover to installer based program within 6 months. They are promoting a new online scheduling system and IMS based management.
Personally, I think that they will ease out as many PSE early so they can prevent severance issues.

From a purely business perspective, the program makes less and less sense. I have been a PSE for four years. My average mileage reimbursement is $300/week, almost $13k/yr. The company paid out almost $100m last year in travel and business expenses. Installers do not receive any travel reimbursement other than excess miles. This isn’t chump change. Some bright individual thought we could make up the lost PSI revenue (or said they did). We are selling ourselves out of a job.

Don't worry. They eliminate your position youll get another. Low level positions east to lateral move. As far as your cake hours and work load that's a different story. Now you'll work harder for your money

Like I said. They are actively making changes to k–l the PSE program.

I was a ten year Pse...best paying gig Lowes “had”....but look at Pse jobs available...way to many company wide. It is one of toughest jobs you can do. A good Pse works 24/7 and manages to much as stores do not support program. Pse will be thing of past.

I heard from a store manager that pse is being phased out. They are following Home Depot. Depot has the installers go out and do the measurements, build the quote and collect the money. Lowes ims system is there now so the installers can get used to this new process. Pse make more than store managers in some stores, so they will be cut. Don’t know when this will happen. Could be in test phase now. Also, maybe they will just have one pse cover 3 stores just doing fence, decks and roofs. Who knows. Seems cruel though to have these rumors out there. These pse and coordinators need to know if they have a job or not.

there are PSE jobs posted. plenty of them. type in project specialist-exterior – without the hyphen youll get nothing. bizarre! or you can type in PSE but fewer come up. lowes has a strong history of posting these jobs right up until the day the position gets the axe. its one of their most unethical behaviors. heck theyll hire people for jobs within the same week they axe the position.

stuff like this continues to prove that workers do not have enough protections in the marketplace of jobs. no one should ever leave a job to take a position that then gets axed so quickly. these corporations know what positions theyll be soon eliminating...they should have to pay a steep penalty to the worker when their position is eliminated within weeks or a few months of taking it!

PSE program will stay through at least Q2 but will not be here as you know it in 2021
MSM and FSM merged so Lowes can keep someone managing a slow shutdown as they add more furnish and install programs (HVAC, Generators, Fencing) Slight chance on Roofing and Windows remaining but with a commissioned only PSE who will be responsible for self generating leads (Like HD program)

Something is happening. No PSE jobs are currently posted . This is what happened to PSI.
PSE is either going away or going 3rd party

  • so if the pse program was being eliminated in 2020, why bother upgrading their computers. PSI's were eliminated using laptops.

They upgraded the surfaces / laptops because the software would become obsolete. Windows isn’t updating 7. At least that is what I was told. Lowes had no choice but to upgrade I guess.

Why would the company provide new Microsoft Surfaces over the last 2 months if the program was being eliminated any time soon?

Its going 3rd party. Lowes recently spent loads of money in upgrades to the PSE program.

The poster below was / is right. Lowe's micromanaged, and set up a PSE (& PSI) syetem for failure.

The CPO was a terrible roll out, creating MAD bureaucracy, and lack of service. The paperwork alone on each PSI sale that had to be FAXED (dinosaur s**t resources) was insanity. 60 pages! To the cpo, that then did nothing with it.

Pse very similar.

“Can’t be soon enough?”
What kind of A hole wishes for thousands of people to lose their jobs?
Lowe’s has micro managed PSE program for years now, and has made moves to k–l it by causing failures.

As long as Home Depot has some form of the PSE program it won't go away. The only thing that corporate knows how to do lately is to copy Home Depot. However the program probably will change at the first of the year.

It makes sense. We had the same pushiness from managers about PSI leads last year just like they are doing with PSE leads.
