Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

What's the point of this?

What is the point of laying off people and then posting an opening for that exact same position several months (or even several weeks) down the line?

A family member has been let go by Baker 3 times and then hires him back...each time getting a severance package...does that make any sense?

Heard that a lot of the guys who have just left us have been snapped up by competitors. What do they see that Baker doesn’t.

This is already happening in North Dakota. Gone from 60% market share to less than 10%. The Baker name doesn’t mean anything anymore.

This is going to hurt them in the US market. Customers are starting to talk about the demoralized Baker work force. They are also noticing a significant reduction in experience levels left in the Baker pool.

Baker been doing it for years pay off experience on double the money then taken a graduate or someone with 1years experience and pay them 20% of the same salary.
They think it's good business but we have lost about 70% odour clients in Aberdeen as the amount of total fxxk ups becase no experience.

They are pushing Remote Ops. They are not going to need a field pool.

Good for them. The writing is in the wall for all Field Employees. The end goal of this company is to take as many off the payroll as possible and have a pool of contract hands to be used as needed.

US RMD have just lost a bunch of experienced DD’s. If the plan was to use them as contract hands, as is rumored, Baker have lost out. Have been told that every one have signed on with a competitor. Baker’s loss someone else’s gain.

It's an HR thing. Nobody understands what they do. Even them

After people work in the system for about 3 months they learn how to game the system. You have to get rid of them and get new players or nothing gets done
