Very interesting...Former employee has filed a lawsuit claiming age discrimination among other things. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I could not find anything in my severance package that I signed regarding a waiver on age discrimination, etc.
Thanks for that info. To be clear, the ones who signed like that will not be able to join the class action, can they?
I got kicked out at 63. Yeah there was something in the severence agreement saying oh I know they're not letting me go because of age. Funny that was the only thing it mentioned. it didn't mention anything else that's protected like gender Etc. I bet if you went to the ACLU or the State Labor Board or legal aid. There's always a way to fight it. Because if a class-action was started you know how many people would come out? the number would be overwhelming. the company would really be exposed. They lay off tons of older people off each rif just under the limit so they skate by the authorities. A lot of really senior Executives very close to retirement were pushed out over the years. But they got the executive severance package which was sweet. And they were allowed to exit gracefully so they're not going to join the fight.
Asked because, in that case, one cannot take the company to court? Is that why everyone who is affected just moves on?
Is there a something they ask you to sign when one gets rif’d and gets a severance?
To Post ID: @2Tohc+12Dd1V7H , I agree that there should be a class action suit on age discrimination. It's very clear that it has happened and is happening. Not sure how to get it going but would love to
Yes. I saw some stats on Rifs in 2016. Something like 70-80% of the particular group I saw were over 45 years old.
I would look at stats on the ages of their new hires for the past 4-5 years. Bet the average age is in 20s.
If only the silent majority banded together for a class action suit ...
AIG would have some ‘splaining to do ...
This is totally valid on the part of the employee in question. They squeezed what they could out of him. Then they said buh bye ... we can do it younger and cheaper.
This happened to me as well, after being an executive there running a profitable product for over 2 decades ... and soon after turning 50. Class Action ...
Get it started and post the law firm to contact.
I would to see a class action suit for Age Discrimination and Hostile work environment
Aig did the same here. Rifd and I asked why they had no reason. Was a top performer but they wanted headcount and I was one of the older workers in the department. I received the severance package and after that was done was listed as retired. I didn’t retire from there. At 59 it’s not retirement age and hard to find another job.
I was pushed out in my late 50's. Once my severance ended, they classified me as retired. I didn't retire and I'm not yet at that age. Is AIG doing something sneaky to hide all the RIF's or is there another sneaky motive behind this?
Will be interesting to see if other AIG employees RIF'd in this class will pursue attorneys on this case and open up a class action law suit.
I hope he beats the c-ap out of the Company
The company has rifd a lot of employees because of their age. Hopefully something good comes out of the lawsuit for all the former coworkers rifd for their age.
Not only age discrimination but also Creating and fostering a Hostile Work Environment
Throw everything but the kitchen sink at AIG and see what sticks. Management will settle quickly and quietly before this receives more press.
He’s also claiming s-x discrimination, which if anyone were to look at the leadership team would know that’s a bunch of BS. It’s mostly men running North America general insurance and it was men who basically replaced him. Although they were younger so that’s one of the claims that could possibly stick.
It’s filed in Federal court in PA. I just googled the name of the employee, and the Pacer index came up, and I was able to access the complaint.
Post ID: @12Dd1V7H-1zdo agree. This may be a way for those RIF'd because they are older to begin a class action suit. The attorneys for this suit maybe a good source for those that want to get in on a class action suit to have common representation
Having difficulty finding it. Would love to know more because it's been pretty blatant with many of the RIFs.
You can access a copy of the complaint on pacermonitor.com. I bet the hall monitors take down this thread really quickly.

Do you mean this?
Yay finally well maybe the thousands of the rest of us who've been kicked out because of our age can jump on this bandwagon
The 53 page complaint makes for interesting reading,
