Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Is anybody else feeling cautiously optimistic?

Or is it just me?

Can't feel optimistic with a few new window dressings, shocking position cuts, and claims of massive change when we have all been down this path before and dug a huge hole to climb out of. Wait until the earnings report on 1/6, that will be a pivotal day. If it is bad with declining sales and earnings yet again expect a lot of cuts across stores and corporate. Store traffic is up but sales are not, that is definitely not good.

right after Christmas with the returns and the cuts... hours get cut... if you got 15 to 20 hours a week you will get cut to 10 to 12 hours especially with the increase in minimum wage coming... the company has to make up for the automatic hire salaries to the employees

I feel pretty optimistic here. I mean is my store roaring again? No- but I am seeing more customer then we did this time last year. I also think that mana game managers ordered far too little this holiday season so I’m worried on how we will survive this huge weekend. I think this new CEO means business. If they find a way to finance these store renovations, I think we will be in the clear. Every NGS store has been out performing itself this year. The reason why? It has all of the companies under one roof. People need assortment and breadth of product. We only offer one. I have noticed that the margins on new product is pretty great too!

Feels hopeful now because it's busy. Wait until January when business slows and hours go way down. Then we'll see.
