I worked for Hertz for 12 years. During that time the company introduced several new ideas to generate new revenue streams. It felt like whenever an executive offered a new idea operations was then expected to make the concept successful. Keep in mind each time zero resources were provided to support these new initiatives. This company was managed into the ground for decades. Each of the most recent CEOs were just identifying an opportunity to get in, get paid, and get out, adding nothing to company that would create a solid business future let alone a good stock price. Covid19 was the straw, but this camels back has been breaking since the 80s.

It amazes me how Kathy took 10% cut on her salary and a month later she was back on a full pay laying off 10000 workers. Correct me if I’m wrong but this is a very bad PR exercise!! She is on $10 mln a year package, which she could have easily given up for 3 months saving all those jobs.

This is the worst managed company I ever worked for with greedy top management pumping money out of the company left, right and centre. And yes, you are right saying Hertz is cooking their books and I think somebody should look into it !!

Just so everyone knows, if you’ve bought a vehicle from them, at any point in time, threaten to go to corporate and they’ll fix it for you for free to avoid people knowing they sell sh–ty cars and lie about accidents and maintenance. I’ve seen first hand they buy back cars years later with bad engines, bad transmissions, bent frames, you name it. I witnessed a customer complain about a base model vehicle they bought, that they were under the impression it had a particular piece of equipment and it didn’t, and Hertz upgraded them to the top of the line model to avoid the customer going to the DA and media, because they are crooked and don’t want the heat. For repairs just email kvmarinello@hertz.com and it gets taken care of. Also if you threaten a bad survey you can get a second key for free. They don’t have second keys for cars anymore because they sold them off in bulk instead of giving them to the customers that are buying the “certified” cars. Company is a joke and extremely unethical. It’s a shame because there are some really really good people working there, just not in upper management or corporate.

This is the most toxic, deceitful and crooked company I’ve ever worked for, and I’ve been in the car business for decades. Nepotism and favoritism are rampant in upper management with less qualified people getting promotions, and the company is suffering from it. They lie about damage to cars, lie about accidents on the vehicles, not many of them show damage on auto check because they repair them in house (badly at that) and knowingly sell vehicles with frame damage, a lot of them. If a customer complains about it they just throw money at them to shut them up. They force car sales to use expensive vendors (cox companies) because upper executives get kickbacks, then come down on the managers for spending too much. They also force hourly employees to work off the clock to avoid paying overtime, but cover it up very well due to previous lawsuits. Oh, and if you happen to do well and are due a large bonus, they’ll find a way to get rid of you to avoid paying the bonus. Hertz is as cutthroat and backstabbing as they come.

Why is everybody acting like hertz is the bad guy?? This is happening everywhere. That’s basic common sense people. Do you expect no one to lose their job when reservations are down 80-90%? Not even lose their job, temporarily lose their job. EVERY. SINGLE person in the world is struggling with this right now. The only difference, you have a job to go back you unlike most people who’s small business has collapsed. If you’re healthy, then be happy! There are people sick and dying from this.

All these posts are 'boohoo, poor me' and blaming somebody else. S— it up buttercup. Furlough is temporary. The whole country is dealing with this & plenty of people are flat out of a job.

Got 'furloughed' today.....busted my a– for this company and they fracked me in it. I saw Hertz stock was in the bottom of the toilet today and figured something was coming. As a Company they don't give a c-ap about employees. I pray for the best for all those who have been furloughed, layed off. I pray something better comes along for all those affected so when the time comes everyone can sing: Take this job and shove it... All of these 'mega Corporations' should be ashamed of themselves for failing so bad to take care of the people that keeps them running. This is the kind of c-ap that starts revolutions.

Everything is true. This is a toxic corporation which lies about everything. Get the beck out if you can. Trust no one. Hertz keeps cooking the books. They will get caught again. Avis is better run for sure. I got a outstanding review now being laid off. What a shot show.

Hertz just announced they will be lay-off all area managers by April 2020. Way to go. Instead of improving their process they have created worse ones.

  • poorly managed fleet by fleet managers
  • to many people who have no clue about the daily operations creating processes based on false data
  • no teamwork
  • False Maintenance saving reported. Not sure how your YTD spend doesn’t decrease but you show a savings?????
  • rather promote based on friendships then finding the right person for the job.
  • Rather hire people because they are the cheapest labor then hired the person who will get it done

I guess it’s legal to have a publicly owned company be forced to vend all of their vehicles to a privately owned company which has Icahn only invests in Hertz but owns Pepboys.

I guess the only way they can make money is buy selling their secondary key inventory, sell off old parts inventory, and lay people off.

If you still work for this terrible company, I will pray for you. It is the most toxic place I have ever encountered. Kathy the CEO smiles to your face and stabs you in the back, all in the name of a buck. She could care less about any employee here. She really is just as bad the the CEO before her. I really thought they would have gotten rid of her by now. 2020 owe it to yourself to find a new place to work. There are still great companies out there. Don't wait for Hertz to change, because it never will. And if you think Hertz is great, then you probably believe Trump is great too.

You betcha. The only way hertz can close the earnings gap to Avis. Project one has been a failure and Kathy needs to show the board something positive.
