What's your prediction as it relates to the possiblity of Mattel Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

no reason for comcast to buy a toy company. they either license everything out (minimizing the risk) or work directly with factories. just like disney. neither needs the enormous overhead of mattel, a global workforce, factories, etc. they have toy companies clamoring to make their products. no need to be in the position of begging retailers/etailers to take inventory. no upside at all. the mattel IP isn't compelling enough to offset the risk. if mattel owned star wars, maybe. barbie and her increasing irrelevence. nah.
You older folks close to or over 50 should start setting up your back up plan. Layoffs are coming and they’re coming for you.
I have spoken!
Mattel is preparing to fire Mr Best! Due to unsuccessful Silkstone sales!
Somebody in a thread below made a comment about Universal owning Masters of the Universe in a few years (which they will) and some id–t took it to mean Comcast was going to buy the whole company. It's BS. Most of the people commenting on it are being sarcastic because it's so far fetched.
Where is all this Comcast BS coming from?
If you do you job and your part of the company is doing well. No need to worry.
If you a Goodman. Then you just keep playing with the good ol’ boys. Somehow keep your job?!
Comcast doesn’t make product. Our IP is not strong enough to be sold.
My prediction regarding layoffs in 2020 at Mattel?
Let’s just say if you’re getting a little long in the tooth, like mid 40’s and above, you might want to have your back up plan in place.
Can someone tell us that Comcast buys us 99-100%
6 months warning?
If the Comcast rumors happen to be true, what I tend to see happen in those situations is that the new owners will tell you: “We bought you because of all of the great talent here”...which is basically just a six month warning to get out, because the place would otherwise becomes unrecognizable. Anyway, good luck! Hopefully doesn’t come to that!
Now that it's all but officially confirmed that Comcast is indeed buying us in the very near future, I'd say all bets are off regarding layoffs. Really depends on what our new parent company has in mind for it's newest subsidiary.
Maybe when comcast buys us next year?
