To all current HP employees, please aggressively look for opportunities outside of the company. Be willing to take a slight pay cut or fewer benefits if necessary. Trust me, taking the risk of changing employers will only benefit you long-term. There are no internal investments that can save HP. Executive management understands this and they have been given the difficult task of finding the right merger or buyout opportunity that will satisfy shareholders. You can expect an ongoing series of layoffs until this happens or until the company is dissolved in bankruptcy court. Your job is temporary and you either leave by choice or by force. Let it be by choice!

I voluntarily left HP-Seattle decades ago, it was the best decision of my life. When the ship is sinking, jump quickly and you'll be forever grateful. If you see the writing on the wall, don't suffer, just move out, move on, and don't look in the rear-view mirror.
Here in Seattle, there are tens of thousands of jobs for all levels of employment - it's the promised land, it's Eldorado, it's the gold rush. Come one, come all !

HPQ is hardly bankrupt, but doesn't seem likely to grow.
Leaving the ship is easy when you are in dock and there are plenty of other ships around to go to. To many of us, the HP ship is the only ship in the vast open ocean. All other opportunities in the area are bleak in comparison. HP has been laying off people for over 15 years now, but they have also been hiring too. HP is not sinking by a long shot.
Let all HP employees laid off and start laying H1b first
