TAA / TRA
Anyone take advantage of this when laid off the end of 2018/2019? There were alot of people that went to the Michigan Works informational sessions and I never knew what transpired.
How many took advantage and went back to school, etc.? The experience was cumbersome to say the least with the paperwork and Michigan Works paying for school but it was worthwhile.
I will be graduating soon with a Masters Degree and wondered where everyone else landed?
Or should I have done a Boot Camp for X weeks in Cyber Security? Although I finally will get a Masters Degree, I'm among so many others that have Masters Degrees and fear the bulk of the jobs are via contract agencies that are not paying well.
Teachers are averaging higher pay when dividing out their work hours and salary in comparison.....
Contact the Warren MiWorks. They’re the ones that presented the orientations.
There were certain employees that were eligible for the TAA. You had to receive the letter in the mail from Michigan Works. I am not sure that everyone that was laid off was eligible.
Has anyone received a letter from General Motors letting them know that they are eligible for TAA benefits? I can't seem to get anywhere with my Michigan Works office. They keep telling me that I am not eligible until I receive a letter from GM. How can I get my hands on this letter?
Sorry, Doleta.gov
Review this site, it details the TAA process. Dol.gov
I contacted my Michigan Works office to start the TAA process and they said this is something I must do through General Motors and that General Motors would send me a letter if I qualified for TAA. I don’t think this is correct. Has anyone had any success with this process? Steps I should take?
It’s for anyone at GM that was impacted, whether you were an Engineer, trades, contractor onsite, etc. as long as the company you worked through is named on the petition!
Question: Do you have to be unemployed to receive access to higher education?
I worked at GM for decades and got tossed out. While I did find a job, I'd still consider the opportunity to better myself on another's dime.
Even if you didn’t receive a letter, you can attend the orientation! Also, contractors are on the petition as well and the TAA benefits are a lifetime benefit that you can tap into anytime! Even if you found a job!!!
Just get to the meeting to fill out the paperwork now until it’s too late! Call your Michigan Works office ASAP!
Is it for the engineers who lost there jobs in February
Benefits include: up to 130 weeks of training, up to 130 weeks of wage subsidy payments (TRA), a wage subsidy for workers 50+ (RTAA/ATAA), job search allowance, and relocation allowance. There are numerous success stories on the Department of Labors website as well. If you go into your local Michigan Works you can work directly with a case manager who will help you navigate the program.
