Here is a fun thought; how many IT leaders have left CHK to become Vp’s somewhere else? and have been hugely successful. You can go back to 2013, every IT leader who has left on their own has landed better jobs leading entire IT departments and are a huge success. Yet CHK barely limps along and hires an outside VP. Well guess what? the good leaders in IT now, will soon be VP’s somewhere else. CHk leadership is some dysfunctional stuff, it’s really pretty fun to watch it. Note this post.

Let be real IT needs a VP they don't have a single one and it's a major part of the business. There are several other departments that could loose 4-5 VPs each and nobody will miss them.
I can't understand why we high these people from outside. Employees have lost hope. The is no upward mobility left. If you move one internal person to VP, 4-5 will get a promotion back filling vacancies all the way the chain. Then there would be hope. Right now the only hope we have is to get a decent severance before they money runs out.
All we hear every quarter is their desire to be cash flow neutral and short falls will continue. Their actions make no sense.
I’m gonna apply for a VP position in this company. Seems like an easier job to get than an entry level position. Help me out, what could I be VP of? Waste management? Environmental? Paper shredding? Maybe I can be VP of the lawn care.
No way to justify an officer position in this shrinking, cash starved company. Sends a horrible message to the workers.
Answer - the senior director is a LETS disaster. Next question .....
Hiring that guy was a mistake. Unless your goal is to be more woke, you’re going to have a bad time.
It’s all about looking good to the board and overcompensating for an inexperienced little mistake of a hire that barely lasted a year........ IT has had to change directions and reorg so much over the last few years that they barely know which direction is up. Add the lack in stability to an ever decreasing budget, no authority or ability to say no and still expect results. But I’m very confident this new change will definitely solve all our IT and executive level issues.
Simple. IT and the people that have been running it are/were incompetent. Equipment and systems are down constantly and NO one in IT gives a rip! Hopefully this person brings much needed change!!!!
I always felt we could use some more VPs. Maybe like another 5-10 and we'd be set?
I guarantee you other operators are just as poorly run. At my company we have more than 1 VP for every 100 employees. Some don't have any direct reports, and some report to another VP, who reports to another VP, who then finally reports to the CEO. So inflated with middle management.
I find such a decision disturbing. There has to be a reason, though, right?
Is this post serious? Another VP? It’s a display of Chesapeake’s frivolity when other operators are managing every cent... as is the premium level of executive compensation for such a poor performing stock. The only thing RDL has been good at is juggling debt and paying himself handsomely while prolonging the inevitable. Perhaps this new VP is a friend. Likely.
Why would we employ a VP laid off from Devon for the IT dept. Thought we were not replacing officers.
We need less VP's. I'm disappointed.
I genuinely feel sorry for you guys
Devon cut him when they were getting rid of VP's. Good old CHK is proud to add another overpaid, unnecessary officer to the fold. While virtually all drillers are cutting levels of management and focusing on pure asset plays, CHK remains oblivious to the economic realities of the energy world.
I thought we were trying to reduce G&A.... How many more ppl will have to get laid off to pay for his paycheck?
It's better for stock performance, too.
Promote everyone to VP.
The more VP’s, the better the company will be managed. More managers is never a bad thing. Need more chiefs and fewer Indians.
