I drove out back and saw a crane putting up framework for the new sign. Along with the rumors of more down sizing for Power. Is my job safe?

Your answer will come at the all-hands meeting wednesday 10/30. That is all I can say.
There will be no more layoffs the power generation division is thriving. Demand is at an all time high.
Your job is secure our union said it is. Lots of work coming to Schenectady is one rumor that is why they called back members on the streets. The other rumor is they are stocking up on Spar parts for when the big downsizing transition to happen. If 273 is lucky it will be all legacy rates again and not close. The company has removed more the of history of our great unions job codes.
If you think you're safe, then you're actually part of the problem and that has put everyone in danger. That has been a huge problem with GE for far too long. There are now too many people who think they are safe and GE can't financially support all of them anymore. Take a look around, you'll see what I'm talking about.
