Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

I feel like the ladies and gentlemen of the UAW are standing up for all of us in the middle class, thank you.

Best wishes and prayers are with you
To everyone working at GM.

not company owned website, if they had any influence over it, they would have shot it down by now.
but the site has rules - post containing names, profanity, personal insults, threats get nuked, posters get blocked.

I lost my technician job to the UAW, I was in the GPS building, now they aren't doing any work and in sure my old team isn't doing much work either due to the strike.
GM wants to be like Ford and farm out, testing and technician jobs to contract houses and pay low wages, I know this to be true because I unfortunately work at Ford and my pay has been cut in half, yes it's better than nothing but damn, it took me many years to make the kind of money I made at GM, it wasn't just handed to me, I had to earn it. By far Ford is the worst and from what I have experienced far behind, GM isn't any better but at least they paid me fair.
I hope this works out for everyone at GM, I sincerely believe the CEO needs to be changed and the UAW leadership also, all of this corruption we read about is old hat, why are people so surprised? I have worked with both uaw and salary folks, lots of good people that want to do a good job and have fun then go home to family, this is turning out to be more than what it actually is. The truth is Barra isn't liked, she has done nothing of significance or special other than belch hot air then fire allot of talented people both young and old from all color spectrums. I think the posters on this site that defend the company are working for the company or sit someplace in the Ren Cen in Detroit, who knows.
I've seen many posts deleted and non of them had profanity in the text? Must not meet the requirements from GM masters I guess.

You forgot, this site is where the laid off hang out and whine about GM and try to look winners lol. The strike actually helped GM bring down their inventory without having to layoff their plant workers, it worked to their strategy. Bloomberg estimated whatever GM is said to be losing is actually less than what they were to pay UAW if there was no strike. Barra, or whoever is behind the strike is a genius! Solved GM's problems.

Union people talking to each other lol. UAW has no place in this business climate where general labor can be easily replaced by Automation. I say, layoff ALL the useless UAW who hurt their peers in the supplier companie more than they hurt GM. You're making it an easier decision for Barra, et al, to get rid of you and to be honest, most of the white collars talking in other forums support the idea of getting rid of the unions. It's the 21st, not the 20th century anymore. No low skilled labor should be allowed to take businesses hostage just because they banded together thinking they deserve more that what they ought to have.

Not true, executives want a ridiculous living, like $22M/yr.

I'll help, how do you form one?

I hope they will also.
Bob Lutz is a putz and always had been, Barra is a crackpot, Indian CFO a token, Ruess, well no helping that clown, the UAWs leadership are such crooks, and Mary is the exact same, a crook.
I feel GM is gonna go bankrupt again and very soon. Kudos to the uaw employees that are the backbone of the company, fire the yards that run the uaw, fire Barra and start over otherwise it's out of business completely.

I hope they hold out for whatever they are bargaining for. It used to be that whatever the hourly employees got the salary would get the same. This is not true anymore.

It's always been the corporations vs the people. Only they've found a way to divide the people. White collar, blue collar, executive. Salary, union, contract, etc.

Everyone has similar interests. They just want to make a reasonable living and be left alone to govern their own livelihoods. By criticizing any other group, people sheepishly fall into the divide and conquer tactic that's intentionally used and played upon them. If you feel another group doesn't deserve something, or if you feel you do over another group, yep, you fell for it.
