Chevron is really hyping the importance of digital transformation initiatives for the last couple years. The benefits seem to be showing up mostly in meetings and townhalls. Everywhere except the bottom line.

It's cheaper to hire a 'Data Scientist' to look to build MV stat models, make conclusions on spurious correlations, and present it to management with beautiful Spotfire graphs, rather than an engineer or geologist who would actually say "half of the data can't be used because of x, y, z, etc..."
You'd be amazed what some people can do with pencil, paper, and a little bit of Excel.
Digital is just the new way we waste money on things we dont need, like we did before the downturn. If this company just took that money and gave every employee a $1000 like the YangGang, we would all be better off. Instead it goes to consultants.
Drilling managress seems to love digital.
‘Make busy’ work. That’s all they do. There are also many individuals who have jobs that don’t contribute much to the company. All this waste must go.
