Look in reality most Dollar stores are well managed and friendly. I enjoy shopping their stores. Most of the management come from local community college. They seam polite and respectful. Perhaps , maybe, just thinking.... Good railroad exec's? BC
@1inw: It would be embarrassing if UP had any shame. Unfortunately, such virtue is in short supply there, especially in the C-suite.
UP was already relegated to recruiting from 2nd tier institutions because those in the 1st tier send their graduates to star companies with great pay and benefits in prime locations, and UP has nothing to offer a new graduate except for constant misery for below average pay, or maybe a cubicle in their hideous complex in Omaha, NE.
Now, it seems that even the those schools in the 2nd tier want nothing to do with UP because of reports of how UP chews up new grads and spits them out. It remains to be seen how far downward UP will chase until they finally address the root of the problem, namely their toxic, nepotistic, and ossified corporate culture.
Maybe they can recruit some assistant managers from Dollar General, Wal-Mart, and etc. for managers.
That’s pretty bad because universities usually want to fill those career fairs with as many quality employers as possible to ensure jobs for their students. Embarrassing
@1cle: A lot of universities (mine included) stopped inviting UP to career fairs. Word has gotten around about the toxicity of the UP culture and how the company basically takes ownership of your life. Even the new grads desperate for jobs don't apply there.
Pretty soon UP will have to bring in managers on H1B visas.
It’s going pretty good. UP has their booth setup at the university career fair and not a single visitor at their table.
Im here outside with a few Carmen and it looks as if things have died down a little compared to the energy this strike had earlier. Hulk Hogan never showed, go figure, but things have been progressing well. I believe our voices will finally be heard.
