Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Effects of voluntary attrition (also known as quitting)

Does anyone have any perspective on this? There's a lot of discussion on this site about employees who were furloughed or who took severance packages, but what about those who just quit and moved on? Are more people quitting? What's the mood like at UPC and elsewhere in the system?

Just curious.

If you’re lucky enough to get laid off as Non Agreement, you sign all your rights away or forfeit the severance. I happily signed and whistled all the way to my interviews with a big fat wallet. Some of us lucked out and got shown the door. You can too. Keep the faith!

You do not give up your rights unless you sign them away. Don’t sign them away. And if you quit, why are you concerned about where you are on the UP Seniority roster?

Yes there are people quitting at UPC. They are taking a lot of experience with them too. Majority of them are going to work for consultants doing similar work often for Uprr. They are generally getting a nice raise to go with it too.

If you "quit" you give up all of your "rights" to seniority, possible injury claims, etc.
