Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

It won't be long beforeGM becomes irrelevant,

GM has left all markets in the world because they can't make a profit, aside from US, and China for the moment. With GM alienating many of their US customer base, and China floundering in sales, it won't be long before they become irrelevant, a behemoth that will sink among its own weight. They didn't need the UAW to sink their overseas operations, they did that on their own. Make no mistake, this behemoth has become irrelevant, as there's nothing outside of US or China to brag about.
Regardless of your position, salaried. UAW, contract or other, you will eventually go down with this ship. While you are too busy arguing with your counterparts, you are elusive to the fact that there a hole in the hull, and there's no where left to go but to sink. You can't see the forest for the trees, and cut off your nose to spite your face.
Incredibly silly. Enjoy as time proves it right. Only two worthwhile markets left worth competing, for now…

Their whittled down product line is just boring c-ap now. Doesn't feel competitive in any category.

Decline of GM, decline of UAW, decline of America's middle class, decline of America.

@11lx7maD-1xsj is that why UAW targeted GM? So that whatever contract they can get if they can get any, will be the gold standard for Ford and FCA? Try something smarter so won't look ignorant. If you can't argue your position, don't say dumb things cause it doesn't help your cause.

What makes you think anyone wants GM to pay attention, or are any less consistent in their message now, over when they worked at GM? You would be surprised how many people that currently work at GM, don't support GM.

GM had a lot of money before 2008 as well. Pride, before the fall 2.0?

Are you newer to the business? Still lots to learn? Sounds like a young buck with high hopes and dreams. Still plenty of time for them to shatter those. Lol

PS: I still won't ever buy GM, recommend GM, and I have family members that are on the offensive, to try to dissuade others they know simply due to my experiences.

To be fair, that was their call, not mine, and only because of these situations. Word of mouth is your best, or worst advertisement.

GM - alienating customers for life. I am seeing it on the streets. In family, and out. They have said for a very long time, one of the big three is destined to fold. Will it be GM? No idea, but there's a sporting chance.

Above comment looks awefully familiar.

They do say, who's your customer? For OEMs, it's everyday people. Hard to pull long term viability when you pull out of world markets, alienate your core base at home, and the golden goose that is China, eventually simmers down due to competition among ohhhhh, everyone.

Now tier suppliers, that's where the customers are, and the good managers certainly make that known when interviewing. Since 2008, they learned their lesson and diversified business on a grand scale. Any loss of a customer, while almost noticeable, isn't so relevant these days. This is the market you want to be in for longevity.

I am thankful for the unintended separation that GM provided to me. I was shy to consider looking round, but after the three simultaneous job offers after a forced layoff, who knew they'd be the catalyst to provide a significant boost in my livelihood. When everyone competes for highly diversified and needed talent, the interviewee often wins.

It begs the question. Do they even know what skillsets, let alone care what talent they have within their own ranks? Obviously not.

Thank you GM. Thank you MB.
