If I were IT, I’d make sure that resume is ready. The longer the strike goes on and GM is losing big money daily, WFRs are the quickest way to get some money back. And with Mott being head of IT, he’s big on WFRs. Keep in mind, they were making money when they cleaned house in February.

This site is full of trolls. Anyone with an ounce of perspective knows that everyone is drowning after the cuts.
Austin, too
I know people in Phoenix who never go in to work, never get called on it and never do anything. There is one guy in Detroit that does 2 hours a day and goes home - has been doing it for years. Never gets called on it. The managers stay home - never gets called on it. If IT is not an overstaffed org than nothing is. All these innovation centers and 1000's of employees - doing what? Infotainment? Just BS all around. Mott knows whats going on but so far has been good at deflecting and pushing the cash around.
IT is swamped with work. We have so much to do and can't keep up. Strike is not affecting us at all. Sop spreading rumours please!
Why have your resume ready, if there are no jobs, what good will that do. Lol
NOPE. We were already asked to start programming for some automation work....nice try UAW but we in IT have work to do and that's to replace lazy UAW with reliable robots! Sorry, nothing personal....just being professional.
I already know who from my neighboring org is going to get cut in December. They have some loose lips in Austin
Everyone should have their resume updated, st the coming recession. First layoff was preemptive. The next will be reactive.
It will be one step more than 2008.
