Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

ASM or Supervisor? What am I?

I am a Supervisor. I am expected to run my department, do my scheduling, help the Front End, deal customer service issues, deal with install issues, help delivery, deal with receiving, responded code 3’s, respond to code 50s, get paperwork together to write people up, help the cash office, and on and on while meeting all my assigned goals. All the things the ASM is supposed to do, but I have no say or control over any of it, I get in trouble if any of it goes wrong even if it’s out of my control, I now only get six weekends off a year if that, have to work every holiday, and make half the pay and bonuses. I smell a lawsuit coming.

But is this "official" or just you being targeted? Is this an independent decision made by your store manager? A corporate test scenario?

Are other department supervisors also being forced on the new scheduling at your store?

I am a front end Dept Supervisor, and you are whatever Lowes needs you to be, while the ASM's hide in their offices, screwing up the schedules, I have found myself selling grills, mixing paint, running electrical all while my head cashiers are in positions because my store has started hiring 18 yr old cashiers with extreme non availability.

What are you? The truth? Sadly just a piece of the retail machine. If you think putting you are a supervisor or asm at a big box retailer will get you a better paying job, you’re wrong. The smartest thing you can do is apply for other jobs outside of retail. Do it while the economy is strong, they just reported the strong job numbers today on CNBC. Say your company is restructuring and get out. The longer you stay the worse you will feel.

The reality is that when the company transitioned out of "Service Managers" Back to "Supervisors" some ASM's didn't get the memo about running the store. At our store we have one ASM that is on the floor walking and helping constantly, One who's still figuring it out and does ok so far, and the last one avoids any and all "manager" responsibilities. Literally stares at his phone all day and delegates every single manager action to department supervisors.

I feel sorry for the first guy because it can't be done alone. I'm a supervisor and the weight he alone has lifted off of me since he's arrived is amazing but I don't see him staying.

They really should come back out with job clarification again and make sure that the ASM's know that they're running the store.

It seems you are a Front End Department Supervisor.(?) You’re doing exactly what your job description entails and what you signed up for.

Take this as a lesson learned, each time Lowe’s restructures and comes up with a “new” position (like Department Supervisor), this new position is simply a recycled version of a previously eliminated role with more responsibility and a smidgen more in terms of pay (if you’re lucky, but nowhere near what one should be earning given the circumstances).

In this case, “Department Supervisors” are the recycled version of “Department Managers”. Where corporate wins is rather than have you oversee just one department, you now oversee 2 or 3 departments without receiving anywhere near the pay of what would have been required to employ 2 or 3 individual Department Managers. Oh…and some of you have the additional responsibility of being key carriers.

In the words of Marvin, “Good luck and God bless”.

Lmao law suit??? You must not be educated because that will never hold in court. How about you just leave it you don’t like it? They probably don’t want your complaining negative self there anyways.

In our region department supervisors are not included in customer centric scheduling.
Do you have a different policy in your region or is this some new pilot?
