Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

And for what?

I think Charlie Moorcraft said it best, Im sure most of you remember him, he is a motavational speaker, he was burned over 90 percent of his body by cutting corners for an oil company. His tagline was, "and for what" I wonder what he would think about the corners we are forced to cut at UP? How safety is no longer a concern,(like it ever really was), but now the management doesnt even try to sugar coat it. 5 fatalities in the last twelve months, yeah PSR is sure setting the new standard in Railroading. Of course it was the employees fault, I mean we even put out a tribute video for them to show how we care, but it was there fault, had nothing to do with the constant stress of layoffs, pushed to the limits of your capabilities, the constant threats of management, give me a break. When is this nightmare going to end? Jim Vena now has 5 fatalities on his watch, hope his paycheck is worth it. Do not do anything more for this company but what your paid to do, your job and life are not worth it. If your supervisor or manager continue to threaten you, report them to eeo, and also look into getting a lawyer. Fight back. Forget about your union, it doesnt exist. and remember chuck moorecraft and ask yourself, and for what

Maybe the mess you’re in is because rather than focus on your business, you’re choosing to be on this site.

Nonsense, I have 3 tracks that need to be doubled over, with no power except a switch engine. I have no crews rested, and hell is coming down my neck.

Charlie got everything he deserved. You break rules and cut corners? You get hurt and have to live with those decision. Tough cookies. Take some responsibility for yourself and do your job correctly.

You totally missed Moorecraft’s message. He knew the rules. He chose to not follow them because only the s—ups followed all the safety rules. He had experience and took shortcuts. His message was taking responsibility for your own life. Apparently you missed that part.

Hey UP online has about a dozen photos proving that different locations had a safety stand down, watched a video. You see, they do care, care about looking like they care!!!! Think about it, whats the deal with the photos? Weird.
