Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles

Took a little trip to Sears in Central Los Angeles to check out some deals. Wow! The store now carries total off-brand merchandise. Stuff you'd find in Fallas Paredes or at the Fashion District a few miles away. My take is that its vendors no longer want to provide to them so Sears is bringing in what they can. I mean, they couldn't even glue their own logo on the house brands on to the items, like Outdoor Life or Structure, the clothing lines for men. It really just seems like a discount store at this point, and let's not mention that there are lots of things on clearance at quite low prices. Sears is definitely taking its last breath.

@11hjuYyv-rdu My mind wad not made up before I got to the store. I had a lower level of expectations, yes, but not to this degree. I had never seen a Sears with stuff so cheap like this. I mean, their Simply Styled stuff is not the best quality, but it's parallel to what Sears can offer. Yes, it isn't something we don't know that vendors do not want to provide merchandise to Sears any longer. It's just that they're trying to hide this, while we all know what really is going on, so selling cheap stuff to customers is another way to hide its problems.

Customers are still having a rough time trying to get refunds for their products that never arrived. This is happening under Transformco. The same company that wants smaller format stores. If they can't handle their current stores, I highly doubt they can handle the smaller format stores due to vendor issues. What vendor wants to deal with Fast Eddie? Read this article:

Disgusting garbage apparel that's sold at swap meets/flea markets and low rent stores. The bottom of the barrel merchandise will surely save Sears because all the middle income shoppers we have want this stuff.

The vendors that sold to Sears before bankruptcy are having difficulty getting paid and the most recent court hearing had Eddie pushing to have Transform pay only 40% or 50% of the what they're owed. No one with any sense would sell to him now.

My local Kmart no longer has Smart Sense products which I liked but some off off brands. Some are probably fine, I just don't know if it's worth sorting through them for quality.

I’m sure your mind/opinion was already made up before you set foot in the store. Tell us something we don’t already know
