Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I left after 24 years several years ago right after the first management restructure happened and now just wish I had done it sooner. I now work for a well-established, small business in sales, no weekends, no nights, no holidays except one(we work on Memorial Day and that’s it) a provided company vehicle at my disposal all the time, work-provided meals more than just occasionally, and a true, family-like atmosphere where I sincerely feel appreciated and was made to feel welcome with open arms. Initially I had to take a pay cut, but to me it was well worth it given the stress and anxiety that I was able to to give up and in two years time I’ve actually reached a point now where I am now making more than I was at Lowes as a tenured employee. And I actually look forward to going into work each day!
I’m not here to cast dispersions on the company, but if you are still there working in the store level and are tired of the Lowe’s daily grind, consider the small businesses in your area that are still within the home improvement industry as other options—hardware stores, flooring stores, plumbing/electrical supply businesses, etc. You might have some opportunities right in front of you if you just take the time to look.

I left Lowe’s after 20 years. I work no weekends and every holidays off. I almost drove to work on my first holiday off. I passed the CEO in the hallway one day and she stopped me to chat and said happy birthday. It took me by surprise coming from Lowe’s. I thank God every day that I left and truly I don’t just use these words lightly God bless.

Left lowes after 17 yrs making $16.45 an hour. Found a monday thru friday job where i make $.45 less an hour, my bosses are constantly praising how well I've picked up the job. Weekends off, paid holidays, boss that buys donuts every Friday, pizza lunch once a month, coworkers that enjoy their job. No more stress, no more insanely rude & entitled customers, no more worrying what the next cuts are. GET THE HELL OUT OF LOWES AND LIVE YOUR LIFE!

It depends on where you go after Lowe's. There are retail places far far worse than Lowes. If you are getting out of retail, it's much better.

So true just left to go work for large construction company and people are great, nothing like working at lowes, have my work orders and daily things to do. Definitely not overworked but plenty to keep me busy, feel like I have done something good at the end of the day.
