Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

UAW should strike for wages, so should salaried employees with 10 years or more seniority!!

I completely understand the UAW wanting higher wages. The more senior salaried work force should be asking the same thing! New college graduates, with no work experience, are hiring in as 5th and 6th levels at a rumored 85K to 95K a year.

GM must think this new work force, many of which have no social skills, are always right, and cannot be given any constructive feedback, are going to the lead the company in the future.

Bad idea.

Google has been sued for age discrimination many times, too.

It's an industry wide problem.

I am a contract person, with no degree of any kind I make 80k.
40 years old,
Most of the engineering students out of school are strange ducks that well frankly don't do much of anything really.
They understand Google, ping pong and have poor social skills, the everyone gets a trophy generation kids.
The generation on the heels of these millennials are going to have their lunch.
Millennials = worst generation raised by the worst type of parents. Little ability is an understatement, these people know zero. The good news, they are leaving the industry in droves, job hoping to google mindsets and inclusion, a Utopia where you receive that trophy just for showing up.

These people are not making up these numbers. The average salary last year for an ME from UM with bachelors was $73K...lots of room to get into the 80's.

Those wages do not ring true in my area, where I've done hiring.

85k-95k??? What department & location? I know that's definitely not the case in engineering

Have been seeing this within my group. Craziness offering these prices but it's true. People coming in with a massive self righteousness and with little ability.
