Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Just another way Lowes breaks law.

In New York, it is LAW that any Full Time employee cannot be scheduled for less than 4 hours.
The All-Store "mandatory" meeting had everyone on the schedule for 1 hour.
When we reported the law to our Store Manager, he shrugged it off.

Told us to shut up, and if we want to make an issue out of it he will make sure we no longer have jobs.

Nice place to work. Working under tyrants who make their own rules, and enforce by threats.

Its been going on for years too and no one does anything.

An employee who is requested or permitted to report for work on any day must receive at least 4 hours' pay or, if the scheduled shift is shorter than 4 hours, wages for the number of hours in the shift. The hourly rate must be at or above the minimum wage (NY Admin. Code Tit. 12 Sec. 142-2.3).

There are a number of store managers that love to puff out their chest and act like tough guys. Until you stand up to them and notify the proper state/federal agencies, that behavior will continue. Document the incidents and get written statements from fellow employees.

Don’t bother going to HR or the district manager as they don’t care.

Mine here in cough five cough forty cough one pulls that type of c-ap quite often.

Force the issue, and the Facist SM will be the one looking for a new job. Or just be a serf sheep, and the knucklehead will continue to abuse the working class.

True, factual, accurate.

We are told NOT to punch out after leaving the meeting and then we are paid for the 4 hrs.
That is NY State law. Sorry to hear your store doesnt follow laws. Ours now does, but it took
many to voice it, and some got lawyers.
