Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Will they go with one big wave of layoffs, or multiple waves in smaller portions?

A big wave of layoffs is, most certainly a shock, but at least they get it over with sooner. Dragging this for a longer period of time would be death by a thousand cuts, which is in my opinion the bigger of two evils. What do you think is going to happen?

OMG. GA reductions means layoffs. The biggest piece of GA is SALARIES! And chk has been carrying too many people for the last few years ! Layoffs are needed. And a lot of them

Yeah, like the last 6-8 weeks people are gone every Tuesday after a payroll cycle.

Need to fire our shale play intern that according to him, came here for the opportunity to learn, had nothing to do with making millions of dollars, FP, AKA “Promoter”. Still doesn’t know Jack Sh– about shake plays but has s—ed millions of dollars out of the company for himself.

Folks I have been exactly where you are sitting on campus at my desk watching as we started collectively feeding on each other. Make moves to protect yourself but be aware you are being watched.. Anything they can use to keep you from a package they will do. I was fortunate to get a decent package years ago but feel for you all and understand the feeling of that axe suspended over your head. There is light at the end of the tunnel and no, it doesn't have to be a train.. Be prepared to look outside the box, maybe way outside, and be prepared for your lifestyle to change.. It s—s but is survivable. You don't have to drink the Kool-Aid anymore but you sure want to look like your funneling it like a frat boy. The pony is going to die; but ride it till it falls out from under you. Make plans. Protect yourself and be prepared to enjoy the simpler things in life. Prayers for you all.

There is not a WIN in layoffs at this point. These savings may not be savings for the future. And the money saved won’t add value. Layoffs are a mind game to where mgmt hopes it will be seen as positive by the investors. We need a big sell and that adds immediate results plus lowering GA. So simple.

One or two big waves. This company is in desperate survival mode.
