Just saw that Marvell has completed the takeover of Avera from GF

Any fallout from this? Being out of the loop for several months, just wondering if there were any layoffs or other restructuring since I had many colleagues that ended up a part of Avera during my time at GF.

According to GF employees laid off can reapply to GF, but taking the Marvell severance package requires you to sign a non-compete clause. Dishonesty is rampant from the top at GF. why bother attending any all hands meetings to be lied to.
"The employee who spoke to Seven Days on condition of anonymity said the sting of being let go was lessened by a generous severance package that was “beyond anything I’ve seen in the industry.” Even so, it contained a no-compete clause aimed to prevent employees from being rehired by GlobalFoundries"

ESS-x JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) GlobalFoundries has completed the sale of part of its company, impacting employees at their plant in Ess-x Junction.
WCAX News has confirmed a company called Marvell completed its acquisition of Global's Avera Semi business Tuesday. This was one of the subsidiaries of IBM that Global acquired when it bought the Ess-x Junction plant four years ago.
We don't know exactly how many people were working for Avera in Vermont but we're told by GlobalFoundries they all now work for Marvell. But it is unclear what happens to those workers.
We have been getting reports of layoffs. We reached out to Marvell for comment numerous times Tuesday but have not heard back.
Looks like Marvell is carrying on the GF baton well with being as transparent at 1980s Florida window tinting about the layoff.

Smart GF, passing the ugly work to Marvell
Laurie Kelly, vice president of communications for GlobalFoundries, said the 800 Avera employees were “transferred” to Marvell as part of the sale. GlobalFoundries still has about 2,300 employees at its Ess-x Junction campus.

Another excellent move by TC - getting rid of people painlessly for GF. This is like a layoff without GF having to take its blame. GF had made no attempts to save jobs when they made a deal with Marvell. Next – watch out people in Fishkill, similar thing may happen when ON separation completes.
Some will pivot to the left,

And the others will "pivot" out of sight.

There are reports of layoffs that should have triggered a WARN notice up here in VT. Of course Global is telling reporters that they're Marvell employees so shrugs. Marvell isn't available for comment, per the news. I am so glad I retired. The semiconductor industry is awful now.

Its not referred to as 'layoff' or downsizing internally anymore. The proper term is Pivot.
News of lay-off in the VT site
This is business, nothing personal. Decisions are made tto save the company as a whole, the individual does not matter. If you get a better opportunity take it.
It was stated that our dedicated co-workers who made Avera a resource worth purchasibg are to be cut the day after the deal close. Many of my friends are now cancelling their Thanksgiving and Christmas plans due to being jobless today. What a wretched company GF has become.
