Thread regarding Alliance Data Systems Corp. layoffs

Not surprised, but still scary.

Iv been with the company for 20 years and I could see the writing on the wall. Dont buy the echo chamber u can learn a lot by googling "alliance data stock" n reading third party sources. Dey gave shareholders a .63 cent dividend which they announced with an official press release look no further as to how the dividend was achieved. They sacrificed 300 jobs to butter the palm of investors and convince them things r fine and didnt have to issue that dividend it was a calculated choice. It was strictly to protect the stock price. Stop believing a company sees you as family because they dont Ur a replaceable cog in a machine and this one is looking for cheaper parts. Notice how much they talk about automation and smart learning aka getting rid of your job by having a bot do it. Dey brag about it to investors.

It was announced today that employees are not receiving the CEO annual discretionary bonus this year as they normally do at the end of the year.

Every action and tactic Alliance Data uses is used to inflate their stock price. The massive amount of supposed "charitable donations" is all used for tax benefits. ADS uses intimidation tactics to force their employees to donate to the Giving Campaign, United Way charities and Food Banks. Dont kid yourself people, ADS uses this as a huge tax write off. This is why there are multiple lists of who has not donated, and supervisors are forced to "sell" their employees on the benefits of donating. Employees who do not donate are shamed. I've heard site leaders and VPs shame their employees for not wanting to donate. $10 a paycheck might not be that much to a VP, but it is to a frontline associate.

This is a very sad and unfortunate event. When I began working at ADS about 7 year ago, I'd never found a happier harder working group of employees or a better company to work for in my life! You truly were treated like family. However, in the last 2 yrs or so moral has rapidly declined do to there no longer being an atmosphere remotely close to when I started, most sups (not all) no longer cared about their staff or even attempted to get to know them, the work hard/play hard, and good work life balance that always previously was at Alliance was completely dissipated, people had to be tied to their phones, and work extraordinary amounts of over to even have a shot at meeting expectations and if you weren't able to work that over time, well that was on you. Then more times than not if you didn't meet expectations 4 or so months in a row you were terminated and it didn't matter at all if you'd been with the company 1 or 20 years. So when moral started dropping due to the stress of if I dont do this this month I'm gonna be fired, or if I don't work at least 15 hours of overtime this month, but should be a lot more. I have no chance at all of even meeting let alone exceeding expectations!! Now due to all this stress the quality and quantity of work of work suffers greatly!! Then you begin to lose your best employees and/or your veterans that can help with smooth transitions of news hires. Then you begin to see the top executives step down as well as employees getting bullied by supervisors literally just looking for reasons to write them up until they either get fed up and quit or the sup has found enough b.s. to let them go. So the writings been on the wall for quite sometime now and to those who didn't see and to those who lost their jobs, I sincerely apologize for what your going through! It may be an extremely difficult situation for a little while, but don't forget when God closes a door, he always opens a window!! Good luck everyone!!
