Palestine has a centuries old contract that is rock solid. Many times, UP tried to void it and failed. However, being that the workforce is almost nil, a buyout might be in the makings. Plus, the yard just recently got renewed. Something is going on.

I didn't read all that, but the MHOBT and MBTHO are nothing new. They've ran to Beumont from Settegast and back for long time. Also, Settegast hasn't been shut down yet, but they've cut a lot of the regular jobs.

Yes Sir, it was 2 guys who proposed running trains from beaumont into settegast. one worked in houston, one out of beaumont, one was so called fired the other demoted, the proposed running trains west from beaumont and soley using settegast as a staging yard for most outbound monster trains since the tracts could hold more. 1 was a conductor but held some impressive degree with some certification called master six sigma black belt. He was the backbone 2 forcing 2 key mgrs 2 retire, stating they were in the way of the vision and proposed Union Pacific groom this guy Fleming as a decoy. He got Omaha to see how incompetent this guy was. He then proposed running trains up the palestine sub and doing a crew change there then flipping the crew back to houston eliminating a board. Both were the brains behind eliminating 47 board. They proposed closing the shop in palestine so it could later be utilized as a crew changing spot, UP has been working on this psr since 2010, and we may not think it works but they have invested billions into it to streamline the process. They are currently working out crews working 8 hr shifts ONLY. As a mgr we have no rights, we do as told or else. There are several tey on the ground in boots with degrees from UT, AM, SMU, RICE, TCU, those are the UP henchmen. You can thank your own brothers and union that sold you out and taught you to say they cant do that, well the henchmen said yes we can. Be careful out there its about to get real nasty. This same conductor who was so called fired I saw in Omaha 3 weeks ago. These people are brutal.

Settegast and Englewood in Houston are 33% profit of what the railroad makes, they closed settegast yard to make longer trains we are switching at Englewood then moving it to settegast to hit main line. Settegast runs north south Englewood runs east west. The shop is still open we had almost 200 machinist we now have 70 150 electricians now about 50. We been hit already.

Good info, I know sonewhere by settegast is either a kcs yard or contractor where the grain trains cone out. My question is did one of those small switcher yards hire a bunch of people, i have reason to believe up has contracted them to do jobs at both settegast and Englewood. do you know what seniority year is on the settegast extraboard.

Either way Houston will have half the intermodal jobs it used to whether it’s settegast or englewood. Does it matter which one gets cut they’re right beside each other

They have not cut out the intermodal. In fact, Englewood intermodal will all move to Settegast ramp, which may add an RCL job.

They are trying their best to shut down half the yard but too many cars keep coming in, forcing to extraboard the other half for a couple shifts. I'm sure once the Englewood expansion is done Settegast will be a skeleton local yard with maybe a TSE job. The roundhouse will most likely stay since it's top facility in Houston for UP along with this being prime real estate in an industry and transportation rich hub, which is why I believe it'll stick around. They may just find another use for it.
