Customers are fine with buying cheap c-ap since there are no quality products made by any company now. With thin margins you can't afford to have quality people so of course the high paid expert employees must go. Different world now.

Promotion from WITHOUT is the Cisco way. They bring in C players from other companies to take the place of their own internal talent.
This is not a place to build a career.
Leaders feel threatened by the good ones I’d assume. There is little governance over how/why specific people are chosen.
I'm talking about layoffs and severance, in case that was not clear.
