Thread regarding Alliance Data Systems Corp. layoffs

October 2019 layoffs possible?

Does anyone have any information on possible Layoffs? Multiple people were told to cancel all meetings for this Wednesday. The quarterly earnings call is this Thursday. This can’t be a good sign....

@3nwt I was laid off back in April of this year. So obvously, this is not the first layoff this year. It may be the last one, but it's not the first one.

They manage layoffs in waves, and things are about to get even worse - I think 2020 will be the worst year on record as it relates to layoffs as numbers keep going down.

They (execs) will try to work their way to profitability and thick margins via job cuts - this may work in the short term but it will cost everyone so much in the long term - this (job cuts) will be the end of the company as you are loosing knowledge and know-how and gaining only short term cuts in payroll expense. In the end, things will fold as the employee is the pillar of the company, you cannot do anything in this industry without really good employees. Mark my words!

This is NOT the first layoff this company had to do. There were layoffs twice this year BEFORE this one.

It was not just lower level employees impacted. People from all over in multiple different roles list their jobs today. Its a truly sad day, as I lost many friends and family members at work. I can only hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. Considering this is the first layoff the company has ever had to do, we are lucky. Most corporations do layoffs much more frequently.

I feel extremely sorry for all the associates that were let go today. The way they did this process was terrible. Now i am scared to go to work. I have seen lot of nice and talented people leave today. I dont understand the critieria to select the 300. Definitely there are a lot of people who are Lazy as F , who only cared to come and take a pay check every month. Unfortunately all those lazy fellows still hold jobs and are leaders/managers. Only God can save that company

My entire team was “eliminated” as they put it based on business decisions.

We were told at 2pm 10/23/19.

From what I heard from others, my entire department was eliminated because they were “consolidating” positions.

300 company wide eliminated.

Very sad and dirty how it all went down.

We were told to look for our severance packages in the mail with instructions on how to send our work at home equipment back.

6 years, perfect attendance and a strong work ethic down the drain for a company who in the end, could have cared less. Thank you GOD for deliverance. I know GOD has a better plan for my life.

Place is a total disaster. Couches themselves on their “family” of associates and kicks them to the curb right before the holidays. Goes on a massive hiring spree a few years ago for M.Miller to double her company by 2020. Great idea. Look what it did. Way to go Mel! You’re disgusting. Learn to balance your books.

And the s-xual harassment that went on there in my time was unacceptable. Glad I don’t work there anymore. Left when the stock was at 285, sold my shares. Now they are at 120. Serves them right.

This place has been going downhill for the past 3-4 years. The ELT allows good people to be let go and shield those who should have been shown the door long ago. Best thing they have done recently is getting rid of the clown running IT. Word to the wise, abandon ship before it’s too late.

Additional History: The Plano office (previously known as Corporate) will have lost about 1/3 of their employees by the time 2019 is over, including voluntary departures who decided to take control of their careers. (Something to consider for those who remain?)

The Plano office officially announced the first layoff names in April 2019. The red flag leading up to this was the Earnings Call in Q4 of 2018, when executives announced the upcoming sale of a non-Cards business. More of the Plano office learned they would be laid off in late August after some executives left/ were laid off in the months prior.

Has anyone heard about the Westerville office . I left work at 2 pm today and I’m a work@home associate. . This is so sad considering how strong they make the company sound! Also this will effect our relationships with clients . I’m so sad to hear this and how I’m hearing it is even worse . It is a very sad day I’m so sorry for the ones that have lost their jobs . May God bless your families with plan and better job .

Business decisions are not always easy! And sometimes it’s inevitable that lay offs have to happen and business professionals regardless of department understand that even if it’s hard. However in this situation communication and the process was terrible. In NO way was it people first, what is disheartening is the way it was handled. Leaders from the top down constantly talking about the values and imperatives but when it mattered most to demonstrate them it didn’t happen. Most importantly what is the most bothering is at no time at the field level was there ever a picture painted that ADS was struggling. It was brushed over with confidence and approached with new lens of how to best support our clients. I feel mislead and that for me is the biggest problem. Transparency to an organizations health is critical and mandatory to build trust and longevity. So I am saddened that how it was handled happened the way it did. I will trust that leaders will reflect and look in the mirror to take responsibility and say “what about my leadership needs to change.” And I will trust that employees will speak up and share how we feel in hopes the future will be different and all can learn from mistakes and lessons.

I’ve been on medical leave and got a call from HR today that I was one of the 300. 25 years of my life given to this organization, and it’s over like that. It’s the only company I’ve ever worked for, I started at 16.

There are not 20,000 associates at ADS. That figure was BEFORE the sale of Epsilon - which had approximately 7,000 associates. Before the sale though, there were layoffs earlier this year. And don't forget the 150 Signet employees that were laid off not too long ago.

Upper management gave us BS anwsers and said it's a "low risk" that everyone else gets laid off. Put applications in they will say whatever for us not to stop caring and one day we will come in with no jobs. Good luck to everyone else who already got laid off

They're building up Bangalore way more than any Sr. Mgt. is saying. Been there 25 years and there's no one behind the wheel anymore. For every 1 person getting work done, there's 3 levels of mgt, 2 PMs, 2 auditors, and 8 other departments claiming they're beneficial.

a lot of fat (i.e. meaningless titles, multiple sups in one department) and problematic associates were also cut today. a lot were too scared to make decisions and in the way. i do feel bad for them but i don't think it was a totally unjust layoff wave.

There have been approximately 300 layoffs. Managers, ccis department, maintenance workers, supervisors. This is so sad. To anyone laid off I am so sorry this company did this. We all thought we worked for a good place and it’s more clear everyday we don’t.
