Anyone heard this one going around? Supposedly there was a group from Amtrak touring the facility after daylight left this past Thursday. Maybe they will offer the mechanics at RLS jobs?

As long as we can still get our coffee after the safety meeting we don't care what happens.
Don't be stepping on my union brothers!!
Hu hunter, you guys are hilarious! Can't get by without pipefitters. We got ceiling watchers, professional smokers, onsite volunteer firefighters, and federal marshall impersonators just to name a few. The railroad can't run without us! Yes sir, pipefitters are here to stay!
Pipefitters are the only ones they will want since we're the only craft that actually does any work. Most of our electricians couldn't rewire a flashlight. And some of the machinists can't even change the oil right. We'll be ok!
This thread is so hillarious!
They have already contacted me via facespace to see if I'd be interested in being a senior general foreman
I wonder if they'll want a safety chairman at Amtrak locomotive shop?
Can somebody come blow in this tube for me my G-dd–n car won't start
It makes perfect sense to me. Wicky had this plan in the works a few years ago I do believe.
RLS machinists work on Amtrak EMD's.....thats a good one.
As long as we get free tickets. And I can still sit in the office
Time to just go into business for ourselves. Who's with me?
Probably a better chance of CN buying it up and piecing it out.
Amtrak's just going to run the garbage train again and pay City of Roanoke all the rainwater runoff races that N.S. wouldnt.
Oh wow . Sheesh
Where have the good ol days went? I think they are gone forever like Jeffery Epstein. Enjoyed it fellas but the end is near
The soul of RLS was s—ed out when they forced Chuck to retire 7 years ago. Then they sent everyone's favorite mountain biking buddy to SCX. It's been a roller coaster ride ever since with no real goal or objective to stride towards. Safety doesnt matter any more. Quality doesn't matter any more. Looking forward to working for Amtrak
At least Amtrak pays their mechanics more. As long as we get offered those jobs I think it'll be better than working for NS. I know they will definitely hire all the master craft electricians, but pipe fitters? I doubt it. Pipefitter craft at RLS is a mixed bag of bull butter with about 5 true pipe fitters. Machinist craft as a whole are good tradesmen along with electricians
I can confirm they were at RLS Thursday. And I have a lady friend in Atlanta that can confirm that Amtrak will be moving in Feb. 15th. Oh man!
