Alpharetta was impacted SRE engineers were hit they were also told the Data Center will be in Dallas Tx by the end of the year they will be closing the Alpharetta office soon.
Does anybody know if Alpharetta is really closing? Anything else looking at similar fate any time soon?
I had heard earlier this year that Alph had around a 10yr runway (not sure when the start was) left. It'll definitely take a long time to close out of a data center as there are numerous cap-ex investments that will need to depreciate first. I could envision them never being "fully-out" but instead, just shrinking the footprint year over year until everything is sufficiently antiquated, End-of-Life, and equipment service contracts relative to value becomes garbage.
Doubt that they'll have Alpharetta closed by the end of the year. It will likely take several years to pull everything out of the datacenter there. But yeah, both Alpharetta and Cincy are slated to close.
