Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

One quick point...

Been reading a lot about GM this week... felt compelled to make one small point:

General Motors is NOT a "Detroit" automaker.

General Motors is a "U.S." automaker.

You may think that's a small Quibble... but I disagree.
Labeling GM as a "Detroit" automaker implicitly FRAMES this as a "local" item.
But it's not.

General Motors makes/assembles vehicles in various states across the country; Not just Michigan.
and DEFINITELY not just Detroit.

In fact, there is only ONE gm plant in the city of Detroit (Detroit-Hamtramck assembly) and it's scheduled for shutdown within the next 4 months.

General Motors is a U.S. Automaker.

Please frame the discussion as such.

Thank you

Americans don't buy GM products. Alienating a customer at a time has that effect. As GM leaves the states, other worthwhile companies will emerge to fill that void. FCA seems to be eating their lunch lately.

It's a multinational corporation with no loyalty to the US.

It's only "American" because Mary and the executives live here, but none of their decisions are for the benefit of America.

Next time they go bankrupt through mismanagement, let them go running to the Mexican or Chinese governments for a bailout.

GM is the wokest auto company and that’s all that matters.

Now! Go forth! Buy one lest ye be red-flagged and forever deemed a deplorable.

General Motors is less a U.S. automaker every day. It's more of a China and Mexico automaker
