Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

If they strike in the plants, will gm ask salaried employees to fill in?

Or will production just stop for months?

The GM workers needs to stop being Greedy and get back to work. Welcome to the real world and be happy you even have a job if you don’t like the way GM runs things go and look for another job.

Speaking as an IT admin,
I would rather get Fired trying to Unionize my dept, before I'd ever do someone else's job on the line.

In Solidarity...

Assembly line work is simple, repetitive work.

Not much training needed.

I do not work at GM, but I was wondering if management at GM had to spend a lot of time training to do Union jobs if they went on strike. Would you have a lot of web programmers end up building Camaros on the factory floor if the strike got that far?

If GM has 90 days of vehicles to sell, they're still making money.

The strikers aren't.

Who can outlast who.

GM built up a 90 day supply of trucks and SUVs before the strike to keep vehicle sales going for the next few months, so the UAW needs to keep production stopped for around that long to provide enough pressure to get what they want.

What if they say "get on the bus to the factory, or don't bother coming in tomorrow"?
