you do know that STAC hasnt sent anyone home for downsizing reasons since the bankruptcy, right? the only ppl that have left stac have left on thier own or were fired for policy violations. it's true that stac is not filling those spots but they are not laying ppl off.
you were asked not to call stac because you supervisor is trying to protect his own job. they think that if stac goes away then they are needed now more than ever. they fail to see that stac has been blasted with calls for stuff other than technical help because they never answer their phones.
i have a friend that is a lead in stac and i was told that "the field" was asked to have their techs only call in for technical assistance instead of for parts or asking if stuff is under warranty or not.
everybody working in stac is full time and work 40 hours a week. they are not being given overtime for the time being, which is why they were wanting people to only call for technical help. the other stuff tech's call for was causing the need for lots of overtime to keep up with the calls.
for real, I walk by stac several times a day and they are all still there and working 40 hours. call them for something today and ask if they're letting ppl go and see what they say. since bankruptcy, only the manager of stac has been let go for something other than a policy violation.
