Thread regarding Stevens-Henager College layoffs

CEHE closing campuses

"The Center for Excellence in Higher Education, a for-profit college chain based in Salt Lake City, is halting enrollment of new students at physical locations as it looks to shift to mostly online instruction....CEHE, which operates Stevens-Henager College and College America, has about 2,100 students attending classes at its campuses. Another 10,000 are enrolled in online programs."

This school has tried to convince the world that they are a non-profit, but that house of cards has fallen. It is much like ITT Technical Institute in that they targeted specific groups of students that were unable to participate in actual schools of higher education, all students essentially receive artificially high grade point averages, to the point that they expect to get high grades even when they do nothing to earn that grade. The students are filled with unrealistic expectations and recruiting bonuses, I don't know about, however, if you look at the offered salaries, CEHE places emphasis on having part-time or adjunct faculty and paying minimal wages, but will easily pay 50K to 60K for recruiters, and then also expect the teaching staff to conduct outreach into the community, to find professionals in the area of study to be members of the "advisory committee" that is required by the accreditors, and ultimately, they want the educators to find jobs for the students. CEHE is essentially a paper mill that has lined the pockets of Mr. Barney and others. They try to convince everyone that they are winning the lawsuits and they are an upstanding educational institution, butt having been on the inside I know they are a failing institution. They would rather have slick looking and talking salesmen and women than someone who has legitimately earned a Ph.D.

The schools are being investigated by the Consumer Financial Protection Board for loan fraud, being sued by the Colorado attorney general for consumer fraud, sued by the DOJ for illegal recruiting bonuses and on probation with their ac creditor. (ACCSC)

The Colorado schools recently announced they were closing on September 13, 2020.

Good riddance !
