A lot of talk about the Q2 broadcast. Has anyone seen it? The talk is that by 2020 operational hours will be 40% of payroll instead of 60%. This means Back End, Delivery, and Cash Office will need payroll hours cut.

Free time! I wish I had free time. I scan IRP's, do all the RTM's, Out for repair, Ope return pricing, buybacks, SOS pricing and discrepancies, damaged appliance RTM or pricing, hazmat, donations......and the list goes on. Part of me is glad to be getting out of what I got myself into. I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. I never get to slow down or take a break and my health is suffering. Yes according to everything I've seen they are changing the position and may eventually get rid of it. Life goes on.

Seriously, you work at Lowe’s. Do you think any job is safe from cuts and being eliminated?

Marvin has shown us time and time again that he will cut any and all possible positions if he can make money from it. Hell he would fire the customers if he felt he could make money from it.

Don’t wait to have your position eliminated or changed to a lower paying one. Act now! Get your resume updated and in to the hands of a potential new employer.

Look out for yourself; Lowe’s has shown you they won’t do it.

RTM is going 3rd party very soon. By end of Feb, 4th Q end.
Along with Deliveries. The entire back end is getting an overhaul.

One less "department" to worry about. Lowe;s answer is giving all the responsibility to a 3rd party as they simply walk away and say, "call CPO!" Or, "call XPO"

I cant tell you how many customers come to the Pro desk at my store complaining mostly about deliveries. And when a manager tells them to call CPO, they state angrily, "I bought from Lowes! Not CPO!" Same with XPO. These customers swear they will never come back, and they dont! I dont blame them. Terrible service, so why come back and just get infuriated? F em!

RTM is already being phased out. Many vendors no longer offer credit on items and Craftsman will be our own line so .... ???

Anyone transferring to an RTM position or back end will regret it soon as they too are laid off with no severance, and no chance to reapply. Its another move to get rid of tenured, FT employees for lower wage staff.

RTM was created at Lowe''s around 30 years ago because the Receiving Clerk was overwelmed and couldn't do all that was required. The jobs in themselves are both stressful and anyone who thinks neither of these positions are worthy of this so called "free time"has never worked in my store along side these associates. People you need to stop generalizing positions and look to the people doing them. If your store has free time then these people clearly do not understand their jobs.

I think what you’ll see is RTM and receiving clerk merged into one position. Many receiving clerks already know how to do rtm’s, and I’m sure that there are RTM clerks out there that know how to do parbilling. From my 24 yr experience with the back end of the stores I always found that though they both worked hard they also both had lots of time on their hands. There’s room for more efficiency in the receiving area. As someone said earlier, HD already did this a while back.

The central Depot location is the Trash Compactor.... no one accepts transported returns, its in the sales deal as a percentage.... integrity monitoring returns was a vendor requirement. Now everything gets crushed and sent to your local land-fill. Clerking returns is older than Genesis (our software not the Bible!.... wait maybe).

Not good.

But then what position does? No one feels safe.

Home Depot let their RTM clerk positions go about 7 years ago to ship return's back to one centralized location.

Probably not a position that will stick around.

The question then becomes do they keep us,and move us into another position or send us packing?

Only time will tell.
