The guy, he is full time, in my store comes in at 5:30, does what ever he does in the cash office. Rest of his day he helps cover cashier breaks and stocks drinks and snacks. His fill in, works on the sales floor after she finishes with the cash office, trying to get everyone and their brother to sign up for a Lowe's credit card.
I've never seen a cash office associate do a code 50. It's usually pull money.talk.eat.repeat then leave. I don't know what pay scale they are own but they should not be over 13 dollars a hour.

I think the original poster has a personal issue with the cash office employee at his/her store and not so much a problem with the position in general. There are good and bad people in all positions nationwide.
We should instead direct our attention to the true problem... Marv and Co.
At my store they start at 4 am and put the cash in the drawers for the opening head cashier to place into the registers. Then they used to take some papers into the training room to sort and shuffle while they talked to the HR girl. Now that she is gone they are in the management office on the other side of the cash office chatting with the management hiding out in there. Once that is done she might grab her clipboard and find the pricing coordinator, RTM clerk, or receiving clerk and chat with them. Anyone who is important at my Lowe’s has a clipboard. What to look managerial or important? Carry a clipboard.
On the other hand the weekend/fill in cash office girl does the cash office stuff and then helps out at customer service until she is done with her shift.
Well we balance tills, research all of the over short issues, order change, get money ready for the next day, do RTM, pricing, cash office paperwork, loading ticket, return receipts, investigate charge backs. Help with code 3's code50's AND ANY OTHER GOD DAM THING MANAGEMENT ASKES OF US!!!!!! Sorry is that not enough for you!
Ever seen Scrooge McDuck in the money vault? That's what they do - except with cash. Unfortunately, they work at Lowe's, so cash is kind of a rare resource these days. Lots of dives straight into a cement floor of late. 🤕
Yeah but it's a good question . they come in early leave early and I see them sitting around talking and playing on the computer. May be they are a waste of money and it's a job a manager or front end supervisor should be doing to earn there pay.
