The reason a company buys back its stock is because it lowers the amount of outstanding shares in the market and thus increases EPS. Plus it also shows that a company thinks its business will grow and thrive into the future(They wouldn’t buy it back if they thought it would go down in value). Just like an individual investor, the company then can sell the repurchased shares at a later time and make more profits for its shareholders. It has nothing to do with ‘having more in house control.”
