Las Vegas convention has been over. Where is this “brilliant plan” ?
The plan is simple. The hedge fund wants to make money. You are in no better shape than you were before. Anyone who stays well get what they deserve.

Since I stopped shopping at BN , I spend even more at Amazon ( better prices !)adding what I spent Christmas time I’ve easily spent $2,700 this past year. May not seem much but add all the others who no longer ship BN and it’s a chunk of change !

ME TOO !
I will never shop in a BN store or online ever again. I don’t care who owns it. If they’re stupid enough to buy it, I’m NOT stupid enough to patronize it.

Waterstones already failed here once, why try again?

“The bad treatment of BN employees prior to this is all on the shoulders of Len Reggio, HR, VPs and DMs. ”
Yes it is.
But if they keep those DMs , it’s the same BN.
I no longer support BN either. And regardless of who owns it now-I never will.

You can’t expect any new owner of any business to reach out to laid off employees from a couple years ago! If that’s how you are going to judge them, then you have unrealistic expectations. I’m one of the laid off. I spend my money elsewhere. Everything I have read, booksellers at watersons r happy w their work environment. That makes me happy for those I know who are still there. The bad treatment of BN employees prior to this is all on the shoulders of Len Reggio, HR, VPs and DMs. No business person is expected not to buy a business because former owners were poor leaders and treated staff badly

“ It’s time for people to let go of their anger and move on. I don’t work there anymore-don’t respect the business model of BN but it’s a different company now.”
Fired all those people & the c-appy mgrs & DMs get to sit back while the British Knight rides in & saves their jobs. ?! I’ve moved on. But will NEVER give BN a dime. I don’t care who owns them. If Elliot reaches out to those who were fired & offered them their jobs & positions back ( an absolutely never gonna happen situation) to right a wrong decision. I’d respect that and be happy BN had new owners. But, by buying the company and the bad treatment of its career employees it’s still BArnes and Noble. I’ve done all my book, CD & DVD shopping with Amazon now and save more money ( even with the BN employee discount) I spend a good $275-$300 monthly on movies and books. My Family & Friends no longer shop BN either. They’ve lost a lot of income they’ll never get back.

Hate to tell you -customers will come back. He brought waterstones back from the brink. It’s time for people to let go of their anger and move on. I don’t work there anymore-don’t respect the business model of BN but it’s a different company now.

“VP conference in las Vegas this week. Maybe some real news after that. Elliott might realize they bought a burning house“
No money to put in the stores. But let’s fly everyone to Vegas.
Elliott “MIGHT” realize?! If they didn’t do their homework before plunking that money down what does that tell you ?!

What are people saying in your stores? Everyone here is pessimistic- even the Store Manager!

Try READING the article again. He hasn’t said how he plans to raise BN from the dead. Article just said what he did at Waterstones. Talk about a misleading headline and FAKE news!

“I'd like to know how he's going to bring back the regular customers who left for good.”
He’ll NEVER get them back. After cutting staff to the bone & not caring about customer service drove people away.
And, the THOUSANDS they fired ( along with their family and friends). They’ve lost that business FOREVER!

I'd like to know how he's going to bring back the regular customers who left for good. All B&N store sales are in the toilet. Plus, Americans aren't buying books anymore; maybe he can sell rotary phones and fax machines!
