Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

To all shops and employees

I see alot of unhappiness, fear, and hate in this forum. The hard working bashing the lazy for being worthless, the lazy bashing the hard working and labeling them as s— a$$e$, craft bashing management for everything they do, management writing people up for everything they do, shops bashing other shops, furloughs with more to come, misleading information, ect. If you all are that unhappy, fearful, and angry, do yourself a favor and many other people that are apart of your life and find a new job. No one is forcing you to work for NS. There are many other jobs out there that are more in line with what you a wanting and can bring you more happiness.

I, myself would like to see all the unskilled, lazy people gone. Those who give the unions a bad wrap when it comes to negotiation leverage. These are the people who make it easy for the carrier to take away weekend jobs at your location. Hopefully the next round of furloughs will take care of that

I don’t understand the problem with SGL jobs... Its a more money job... isn’t that good?? To make more money?? Isn’t that the point of going to WORK?? Quit crying and let someone make more money if they want to. We are here to feed our families not to play union buddy buddy games. That sh– holds people back

Layoffs are coming and all this sgl versus union, old versus young and every other crybaby statement isn't going to change that. So quit crying and if you're on the bottom, go find another job. Myself I would like to see all sgl jobs gone hopefully this next round of furloughs will take care of that.

If making a point to the company is more important than your own personal happiness, then I encourage you to stick with it. In the weirdest of ways it must bring some level of satisfaction and happiness to you, but at that point you have to ask yourself who is the real railroad loving dlckbag. And to Mr. Old Timer, we live in the present, not the past. In the past unions were MUCH needed but it came to a point where the union people exploited the system, and by doing so have ruined it for future generations. The future generation is now here and is paying for the exploits of the past. Some wisdom you have. And by encouraging people to take control and move on with their lives and find happiness you see it as complaining and being hypocritical?? You strike me as one of those lazy, unintelligent people who have enough seniority that wont get laid off, but who continues to s— off the system and have lower seniority people do YOUR work.

I think you must be pretty young not to understand what Mr Laydown is talking about. He speaks about how unions use to function before they became full of anti-union pro-company softies like you seem to be. Complaining about someone trying to make a difference while not making a difference yourself is as hypocritical as you can get. Do the union a favor and be entitled elsewhere.

Yes, the top sounds like a company man, but the bottom sound like people that don't even have a G.E.D. but could pass a background check. These people have nothing to fall back on and have no other choice in life so they stick with the company and fight for their job by laying down. Somehow they think they're showing the company that they're assets rather than expenses. It may work for the short term but in the long term, the company will have the last laugh. This all makes me think of the government welfare system to take care of the poorly educated and unmotivated who think someone else should take care of them and someone else should do their work. Those who live that life have no real power and have their life dictated by the government; much like the current situation at NS. Mr. #Laydown, I suggest you stick with your mindset and become the new leader of the laydown movement if you're that passionate about what is right by the union. I bet you won't and are the biggest snake of them all that hides in the bushes.
