Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Memo about former employees?

Just saw a tweet mentioning Xerox that read:
“why did you push a memo stating no one who formerly worked at xerox is rehireable?”

Anyone know what this is about?

At another company, one woman left with a substantial payout on Friday (9 months of pay) and rejoined on Monday. That happened enough (usually with more of a gap) that they finally said:

  1. If you took voluntary severance you were serious and need to stay gone.
  2. If you were involuntarily let go, why would we hire you again.

It’s in direct response to the pension fund crisis. There were many many people who left because they wanted to get their pension knowing the fund was being depleted. They were later rehired. It was a practice of many VPs and Senior Executives who have full knowledge of the fund depletion truth. They had the connections to pull it off. That practice has bee shut down in an attempt to keep the fund over the 80% mark. A new policy has been put in place that prohibits rehires.

Why would you want to be re-hired by Xerox?
