Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Ideal CHK organization from the front line

CEO
COO
Managers having 0-12 people reporting to each manager in departments that actually have real work to do
Notice this would require the firing of all executive VP’s, VP’s and directors. This would free up so much time for the workers on the front lines that currently spend 25-35% of their time filling out reports and preparing presentations to upper management. Sorry but the talk show host has to go also. He makes more than the most senior professionals. If you have any input for the next lay-off, listen to this advice and take action so we have a chance to save the company. If this advice is followed, the moral and team spirit will be at the top and you can stop paying consultants trying to shove culture down our throats.

Why doesn’t the ceo see that stock price is tied to morale?

Don't worry about anybody taking out CHK. Nobody will take on the debt burden and CHK assets have a reputation for being a total cluster once taken over by other companies. In the M&A realm, some companies won't even consider CHK assets due to the baggage they seem to carry.

This will always be a problem. It’s the same at all companies with a significant discrepancy between the top wage earners and the bottom actual workers. Don’t you get it? They don’t want to talk to you pee-ons!

I have confidence mgmt. will do what's necessary to survive

We all know the truth and that is that campus is still over staffed. This is partially due to exactly what you said here. There are so many different layers asking the ones below them for presentation materials to present at their next meeting that the individual contributors have a hard time focusing on what is the actual priorities or blue chips. Each department and BU does not need a different VP and by no means needs multiple directors. When you have VPs, directors, managers, supervisors, and then the actual workforce and all in the same department this is what leads to last minute fire drills, inaccurate communication, and ultimately low moral. If we are going to survive this, campus needs to get lean and that will require another mass layoff. Otherwise we are just waiting for someone to come in and buy us while our stocks are at an all time low. And if I have to see one more unfiltered waste of space video, I am going to puke. I would not be surprised if North Korea doesn’t use them to torture their prisoners.
