Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

more layoffs after ratification- I’m still voting NO

If this contract passes this time the company will be having more layoffs-
Many are scared that they can not find another job that he can get by on. They must of been one of those T scale guys that came from making $10 hr before GE. The company knows this and that is why they presented us with another garbage contract. The company keep taking away from what the union brothers and sisters have fought for. Decades of struggles to give what YOU have today but will be gone tomorrow. Out of fear you post on here they will shut the doors. So what if they do. Me for one I will not go out like this. MY VOTE IS NO! Why? Because all those managers treated us with no respect for the past 3 years! Why? Because is they do shut the doors they will be in the job market as well. Who knows you or I could be their boss in another company. That would be a great turn of events. Either way I am still voting NO.

Maybe you are one of many very dumb managers (that ran GE into the ground). If you sign a contract with a union that is 3 or 4 years long, and you can't assure those workers won't be layed off during that time, I ask why?
Are you running the business poorly? If you anticipate a possible need for a layoff then don't sign the contract. But don't sign it then do a layoff. That's shady.
Verizon has no layoff clauses. Has worked for them for many many years.

@10qYKjuj-kcj,,,dumbest post ever! So if GE has no orders or reduced orders in your mind they just keep you on the payroll?

As a retired manager, I'd give (and have) you such an agreement with more wholes in it than than Swiss cheese!

Get real!

Layoffs will happen one way or the other, look at the stock price, GE can't afford to keep employees on payroll when there are no orders on the books.

What's the point of a contract that does not include a no-layoff clause?
All for nothing if a week after it's signed the company lays off people.
