Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Who else is shocked by media coverage?

Is it just me, or has there been significantly higher number of media outlets covering this round of layoffs than any of the previous ones? For once, there is actual info available outside of here!

I wonder what changed and made these layoffs more interesting to media than the previous ones....

The writers of the news stories welcome factual emails from folks affected by these changes. I've done so using a sock puppet email account, letting the writer know I was doing so.

Keep it to things that actually occurred or will occur.

Marvin the Turtle has spent the past year blaming his failures on Lowe's previous executives and his excuses are getting old and Wall Street and the media are finally noticing. And good grief, issuing a press release after laying off thousands of employees and claiming the layoffs will actually result in more customer service on the sales floor. It was not just a stupid statement, it is a lie, and Wall Street responded by pushing down Lowe's stock price. Marvin the Turtle no longer has any credibility on Wall Street or with employees.

The first reply absolutely nailed it. Sure the first few could be explained away so easily... New CEO=changes But now it's been proven that the only way he knows to improve numbers is by eliminating people. That's not a plan, it's desperation and the media leeches can smell it all over Lowe's now.

corporate knows about and actively monitors social media post.

they know the unfiltered truth will come out on these sites

so theyre forced to put out a press release and possibly even offer that small "severance" to not look completely like the villain to positions most on the outside would assume are low paying jobs that barely make a dent in a stores bottom line. part of offering that severance i assume is to chop off most laid off works from suing. FSA especially was a position that had long been known was getting the ax. heck store managers knew it was when not if. so in states that take mass layoffs a little more seriously...severance is an agreement to not sue. i read one report of a guy that was on-boarded the day before and laid off the next day without ever working his first shift — thats landmark lawsuit territory to me. predatory, bad faith hiring practices by corporations too isolated, insulated, and powerful to care.

i just pulled up a few more recent articles and the layoff site is mentioned. so the media has caught on that there are places employees go. they probably just dont put faith in sites like this as being "real news". but now even they are watching.

so i imagine in the past these two positions would receive no press release and then no news coverage. i think the media has covered this more than the asm layoffs of 2017! corporate did a great job of spinning that into a big hiring event and there wasnt tons of talk on topix either.

the anger from the low paid workers is intensifying. maybe this will give them pause before the next layoffs take place. marvin is making lowes look like theyre going out of business when the reality of it all is theyre just greedy and trying to find more ways to give money to ackman and shaw.

lets not forget the corporate tax law that was passed that significantly lowered corporate tax rates!!! even if lowes didnt bring in as many sales dollars this year—something i doubt will happen—the net income will still be way higher than previous years thanks to a lowered tax bill!
